    [CLOSED] about Coolite.Net 0.8 Vs Ext.Net 1.0

    so frustrated...

    There are 2 kinds of version, Coolite.Net 0.8 Vs Ext.Net 1.0

i already made 15 pages of 50 with Coolite.Net 0.8. to show my boss.

and yesterday i got the Ext.Net 1.0 .dll in your site and applied it to the sources.

Jesus..the 2 versions are totally different.

What is the realone? the upgraded version of Coolite 0.8 is Ext.Net, right?

or Coolite.Net 1.0 will be open or already exists ?

    Hi,

Yes, they are different. Mostly a renaming/rebranding of "Coolite" to the new "Ext.NET".

The code base is effectively the same... a continuation of v0.8.x.

The 0.8.x build will be the last "Coolite" build. Going forward (v1.0), we shall be known as "Ext.NET".

    Hope this helps.

I'm not really sure why you would have to "start it again". Are you suggesting that you would have to throw out your app and start from scratch? That shouldn't be the case.

The upgrade process is fairly straightforward. Mostly search+replace because of the renaming. Of course you might have some deep customizations to components and/or JavaScript, so that is an unknown to me.

There was a change to how the inner properties of the Layout controls work, which might require some rework wrapping an extra inner property.

There's a lot of syntax and performance optimizations available with v1.0, which might require some rework to take advantage of, although none are required.

If you need some help upgrading, just ask. We're happy to assist.

With only 15 pages, I should be able to bang out a v1.0 upgraded version of your app pretty quick. Just send it to me (geoff@object.net) if you want.

I posted a similar but more specific question(s) a few days ago... and I got a 5 word response. What gives? I would have liked to have recieved an answer that actually addressed my question, as this person did.
