you had mentioned that earlier and I realize now, that I had put it on the wrong panel. That solves the errors, but I do think our PM would like the animation though it sounds like a browser issue and not a ext/coolite issue. I'll roll with this for now. Thanks.

I think having both iframe and collapse animation is going to be impossible (at least for now). This issue has been looked at many times and no-one seems to be able to work out a good a cross browser way of making it happen without reloading the frame. It's just an unfortunate browser quirk.
