Yeah, I found FineUI while searching for some ExtJS stuff the other day.

There are quite a few issues with it though:
    1. It's ExtJS control support is incomplete and looks to be ExtJS 3.X.
    2. It's questionable if it will continue to be developed.
    3. Most everything is in Chinese other than the demos.
    4. It's licensed improperly:
    http://www.apache.org/licenses/GPL-compatibility.html
    http://www.sencha.com/legal/open-sou...r-development/
ExtJS uses GPLv3 license, they are bundling it as part of an Apache 2 licensed project.
There is a reason people refer to GPL as parasitic and/or viral; anything that derives or links to GPL code is GPL itself.
Only LGPL (Lesser) can be linked to another code base without infecting that code base.

    Hello @rishal01,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Could you, please, clarify why "no choice"?

You can use Ext.NET Pro for unlimited local development and testing without a license.

No 'Unlicensed' message is rendered until you move the application off a Development box and onto and server. You are free to use Ext.NET Pro for learning, testing and development for as long as you wish. Only after you're ready to 'go live' is a license required.

If someone is legitimately in position where purchasing an Ext.NET Pro license is just not possible, please feel to email me directly (geoff@object.net) and we can discuss the situation.

I'm splitting this discussion off into it's own thread. It's only partially related to the main Ext.NET Community License policy change thread and I'd really like to keep that thread fully on topic.

    I appreciate your feedback.

The http://fineui.codeplex.com/ is interesting, but there are certainly a few issues. The licensing is a limiting factor if you ever want to build a closed-source application. There are other licensing issues as well.

I understand your decision to move to FineUI and I wish you all the best.

    It is excellent.

Please note that you don't need a license for development/testing locally (i.e. on a local machine).
